What is Parent Shopping Night and Why Do It?

Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Parents understand that during Christmastime. Nothing is more precious than watching your child open a gift on Christmas morning that you hand-picked from the toy store (or hand-clicked on Amazon!). It’s a joyful time to see the wrapping paper fly off in tatters and watch that smile spread from ear to ear as they finally hold in their hands the thing they’ve always wanted.

We believe no parent should have to settle for Christmastime handouts, and that’s what Parent Shopping Night is all about. You deserve the opportunity to shop for your child at Christmastime, handpick those special toys, and do it all within your budget. And here’s what’s cool: we’re passing on every dollar spent at Parent Shopping Night to buy food for our community by partnering with the Bridge Food Center to put affordable, nutritious food on the tables of hardworking families like yours.

Get Involved

How can I help? We are looking for a multitude of community partners. Here are three ways you can support Parent Shopping Night and Breakfast with Santa:

1. Volunteer. Many hands make light work. Please consider volunteering both during the event or by helping spread the word by posting flyers and sharing on social media.

 2. Give. We want to provide families with new, high-quality toys at a price they can afford. We will not accept previously loved toys or games. Toys can be donated at one of our dropoff locations (see below for a list) or shipped directly to Messiah Lutheran Church.

3. Host a Donation Box. If you are the owner of a local business or represent a community center, we would love the opportunity to place a toy donation box in your store along with flyers about the event.
