ABOUT THE LEGACY INITIATIVE

ABOUT

Messiah’s Mission

Reaching one more life with Jesus by creating environments for life transformation.

Our History / Story

Messiah Church began in 1972 inside the Studley Grange one-room building on Gordonville. After a year of rapid growth, Messiah built a new building and took up occupancy in 1973 as attendees continued to increase over the years. This building eventually became The Rock and the church moved once more. In 2000, the new church building was constructed and is the building we currently occupy with an expansion being added in 2007. We are a church of continuous growth. Countless hours have been spent in prayer, ultimately guiding our church to launch several ministries to serve our community, namely The Bridge Food Center, His Hands Auto, Kids Creek Early Care and Education, Pivot Point Appliance and Job Creation, Journeys Coffeehouse, a Housing Ministry, a Recovery Ministry, and Gateway Healthcare. With our community ministries moving in a well-sustained long-term trajectory, we need to make sure its foundation is also secure. Investing in the church facility will not only allow us to grow as a Faith Family but also to continue our mission in the community. An investment today ensures a healthy future for generations to come, both for the church and the community.

Our Vision

Create a welcoming environment and prepare for a sustainable future.

Opportunity

Investing in our building today will allow us to continue to impact our church and community for decades.

Why Now

The building needs attention to keep welcoming and providing for people. More and more donors are choosing to direct their contributions toward the cause of their choosing where their dollar has the most personal and direct impact. The result is that future giving toward building improvements will decline. Making improvements to the church building ensures its ability to be used for ministry for years to come. Inflation will only make it more difficult to make necessary improvements in the future.

Outcomes

Making an investment today ensures a solid tomorrow. The building will truly serve as a gathering place for the Faith Family, be used by the community, and will be a strong home base from which we impact lives through our community ministries.

Q&A

What is “Building a Future, Leaving a Legacy”?
“Building a Future, Leaving a Legacy” is a new Legacy initiative that focuses on enhancing the current building and for the generations to come. We will do this by making improvements to the building, projects that will make us more energy efficient, improve security and safety, and the appearance of our building.

How can I/we help?
You can help by prayerfully considering the many gifts and blessings that God has provided for you and your family.  Ask God what he would have you sacrifice in order for Messiah to continue “reaching one more life with Jesus.”

When I pledge an amount to the Building a Future, Leaving a Legacy, how will those funds be used by Messiah?
90% of Legacy contributions will be added to the fund chosen by you. If you chose not to select a project write Legacy on the check or in your online selection. This will go into the Legacy fund to be put towards the high priority projects. The remaining 10% will be used to pay down the line of credit Messiah took out in 2023 for the parking lot.

How long will I have to fulfill my commitment to Building a Future, Leaving a Legacy?
The initiative will run through December 31, 2026. We want individuals to give freely and not feel pressured to make a pledge. The Bible teaches that “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8). Discovering the joy that comes from listening to God’s voice, trusting in what He says, and following through on it are big parts of this journey. There is no obligation to contribute to this campaign.

This is a general legacy fund where your donation will be allocated to the project with the highest priority. The amount currently in this fund is $85,535

For every dollar given, $0.10 will be allocated to pay off the line of credit used to refinish the parking lot in 2022. This project was necessary to prevent the water damage that occurred every time it rained. The project was started and finished in perfect timing, right before the cost of materials had increased. To date, $57,640.97 has been paid off.

If you would like your gift to be allocated to a specific project - please see below.

About this project: a safety inspector visited our facility and said "a child has never died in a building with sprinklers" - notice there are no sprinklers in this classroom (or the rest of the education wing). It is critical to the lives of our children that the proper security be in place. This includes sprinkling systems, a fire alarm panel, and security cameras.

About this project: did you know that whenever it rains the building fills with water? The bricks actually retain water, leading to this issue. Encasing the exterior bricks will weatherize the building and eliminate internal damage.
